Aymara culture has its origins in the populations which inhabited the Andes in what is now known as western Bolivia, southern Peru and northern Chile.
The Azapa Valley, near Arica, was the site of the first permanent settlements of these people. In this area, about 8,000 years BC, as part of what is now known as the Chinchorro culture, developed consisting funeral rites of mummification of the dead.
Developed agriculture, corn and quinoa were the first crops, followed by squash, cassava and potatoes.
We invite you to learn more of the culture, customs, way of life.

  • Day 1: Santiago, Chile's Capital
    Airport reception and transfer to hotel. Accommodation
  • Day 2: Santiago
    Breakfast City tour of Santiago. Accommodation.
  • Day 3: Santiago-Arica
    Arica Airport reception, transfer to the city.
    Afternoon visit the city a tour of the main attractions of the city, Plaza Colon, San Marcos Cathedral of Arica, House of Culture, Fishing Pier, panoramic view of the city from the Morro.
    Overnight at Hotel in Arica.
  • Days 4 Azapa Valley agricultural activities in the Valley. (Ecological floor Coast - Valley)
    Depart Hotel for agricultural activities in the Valley Azapa first visit to Agro terminal, there we can see the products that are brought from the different valleys close to market, continue on the old road to Cerro Sombrero to observe geoglyphs in Alto Ramirez (rock art) and the Archaeological Museum of San Miguel where they are in Chinchorro mummies exhibition one of the oldest in the world.
    Visit the hummingbird sanctuary.
    Afternoon transfer to 30 kilometers into the valley to share agricultural community work, picking fruit, planting or harvesting of vegetables tomatoes at dusk transfer to the city after having shared with Valley farmers. Lunch included.

  • Day 5: Arica - Belen (Ecological level Precordillera)
    Part of Arica bound to Belen, visiting Lluta Valley to observe geoglyphs and petroglyphs, Quebrada de Cardones Copaquilla Pukara, Chapiquia Hydroelectric, arrival at noon in Bethlehem, local food lunch, afternoon guided walk to Pukara Aymara of pre-Inca fortress Guayguarani such without restoration, enjoying the scenery and watching terraces with potatoes and corn crops.
    Dinner with accompanying homeowner to enjoy Aymara legends and customs.
    Accommodation with breakfast in farmer house in Belen.
  • Day 6: Belen- Socoroma, Putre. (Ecological level Precordillera)
    After breakfast, with a village family will go to the field to make potatoes or corn harvest, local food lunch.
    Afternoon transfer to another village precordillerano; Socoroma agriculture and livestock.
    Arrival to Putre and meeting with Yatiri (who knows) Aymara Shaman, who will present Chuspas containing the sacred coca leaves, to participate in an Aymara Mystic World "Challa" native ceremony where Yatiri invoke the forces and spirits of nature (Pachamama: Mother Earth and the Tata Inti, Father Sun) and our ancestors to thank the fertility of plants animals and men, offering protection and welfare ask the Pachamama and Mallkus what they need as food.

  • Day7: Putre, Parinacota, Putre. (Plateau Ecological level)
    Depart Hotel bound to Lauca National Park, declared a Biosphere Reserve, stopping at a junction of ancient trails in a APACHETA, for an Aymara ceremony in appreciation to the high peaks of the Andes where dwell the Achachilas to reflect and remember to whom it was entrusted, leaving their distress and fatigue, bringing hope for better times.
    In the Andean Sanctuary invoke, asking health and protection.
    Check the Town ceremonial Parinacota and baroque style church, visit to Lake Chungara box lunch on Lake Volcanoes overlooking Payachatas (Parinacota and Pomerape). Afternoon visit to the textile artisans, and participate in the making of textiles by the village community Chucuyo.
    In the afternoon return to Putre. Overnight at Qantati hotel.
  • Day 8: Arica - Santiago
    Transfer to Arica airport at time agreed to take flight after noon, it is recommended departure flight in the afternoon.
    Reception at Santiago airport and transfer to Hotel. Accommodation.
  • Day 9: Santiago, Chile
    Breakfast. Transfer to airport for international flight.
