DESCRIPTION
Day 1 (-/-/D)
On arrival at the Punta Arenas airport a car will be ready for you.
First you drive towards Puerto Natales (254 km), a popular docking point
for ferries and cruises and spend the night in the gorgeous hotel
3 pasos which is "en route" to the Torres del Paine national
park.
Day 2 (B/-/D)
We will keep heading north to the Torres del Paine national park where
one can spot wild guanacos (Patagonian Camelids), flamingos as well as
the Nandu or Patagonian emu.
The next two days you will be the guest at the Cerro Guido lodge with
its 60.000 ha and about 50.000 sheep, one of the last remnants of the
era of the "Sociedad Explotadora of Tierra del Fuego".
Day 3 (B/-/D)
A great day to disembark on activities in the Torres del Paine park such
as navigating the Grey Glacier, trekking and birdwatching, or take a horse-ride
around the area.
Day 4 (B/-/D)
In the morning and after breakfast you go south for a visit to the Mylodon
Cave Natural Monument, a natural formation 150 meters above sea level.
This site became a point of interest in the late nineteen hundreds because
of an archeological found consisting of skin, bones and other parts of
an at hat time unknown animal. This animal was later identified as a Mylodon
(Mylodon darwini), a giant sloth from the late Pleistocene (8.000 to 10.000
years B.P.).
Then a stop at the historical and industrial museum Puerto Bories and
a short break in Puerto Natales after which you continue to Hostería
Río Penitente, a beautiful old Victorian style farm house, where
you will spend the night.
Day 5 (B/-/-) today you will leave early in order to cross
the Patagonian lowlands to the Verde river and the Seno Skyring.
Then you continue to the spectacular Estancia Skyring, where you will
a guest for the next two nights. Or alternatively the Hostel
Rio Verde if no room is available at that particular time.
Day 6 (B/-/-)
A day to be used at your leisure, do some trekking and birdwatching, explore
the area or simply enjoy your day at the Estancia.
Day 7 (B/-/-)
Today you depart to the Punta Arenas Airport to catch your flight to Puerto
Montt or Santiago and return your car.
