Refugio
Lo Valdes (Also known locally as Refugio Aleman
having been built by DAV - Deutscher Anden Verein
in 1932) is situated in its own private woods
at a height of 1845 metres above sea level overlooking
the Cajon del Maipo (Maipo Valley) in the central
region of Chile, only 77kms from the Capital Santiago
de Chile. Its stunning views of the snow-capped
peaks of San Jose Volcano, the San Francisco Glacier
and Morado National Park are unbeatable.
The Refugio
provides unparalleled access to great rock and
ice climbing,
high altitude mountaineering, ski mountaineering
or backcountry skiing and
trekking. Throughout the year, bird watching,
fossil hunting or just
relaxing, the Refugio offers the perfect environment.
The Refugio
- literally ‘shelter’ in Spanish, refers to a
small hotel or bed and breakfast off the beaten
track - comprises 11 rustic, wood paneled rooms
of varying sizes and offers excellent international
cuisine.
Built of
local natural stone and with wood paneling, the
Refugio provides a rustic and informal atmosphere.
A large terrace at the front offers spectacular
clear views of San Jose Volcano, San Francisco
Glacier and Morado National Park.
