Directions
Rafael Cañas Street is located perpendicular to Providencia
Avenue (one of the main and most beautifull avenues in Santiago)
between two Metro (or subway) stations: "Metro Salvador"
and "Metro Manuel Montt".
So when you arrive at the airport, you only need to ask for
the Transfer mini-buses and you show this address to the driver
... and they will bring you here.
Once you arrive here ring "Piso 1 "
(246 is the number of the building)...
Also at the airport just when arriving at SERNATUR office
there (tourist information service), you can ask for one FREE
map from Santiago or CHILE and they also can show you where
the Rafael Cañas Street is located.
Testimonials
"Helped along the way in Chile"
by LYNDA HOWLAND
Pittsford, NY. INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL NEWS, September
1999
"I found myself traveling alone in Chile in May
'99, and my extremely limited command of Spanish proved
to be a significant barrier to getting around and joining
tour groups in Patagonia. The B&B in which I stayed
in Providencia section of Santiago was excellent. It
is owned by Marilu Cerda, a friendly and helpful woman
who speaks excellent English.... The off season rate
for an immaculately clean and nicely furnished room
was $25 ( dollars ) And this included a substantial
breakfast. ...Marilu showed me around the neighborhood,
accompanied me on a bus ride to teach me how to navigate
around Santiago, and arranged inexpensive transportation
to the airport.
Even if it is a litle late we wantet to say thank you
so much for all your help, while we were staying in
Chile. You made our trip a lot more easy, and your home
felt like the home of our own family. We are now back
i Denmark, back to study and work, back to a really
cold winther and back to not always a pleasent reallity.
Besides that...... everything is going just fine and
the time is running. You gave us a very pleasent stay,
we won´t forget Thank you so much
Hugs from Denmark Charlotte& Charlotte (and also
a hello from our two danish friends you met) We have
send two pictures with this email. One with the two
of us and Anthony, and one with the red hair...
Hi, My stay at Marilu's B&B couldn't
have been better. I found the rooms very clean and comfortable.
From the moment I arrived, I felt like a part of the
family instead of a guest, Marilu speaks very good English.
The breakfast was very Chilean, and very good. The location
is quiet and convenient, close to the metro and micro
travel. I would recommend this hostel to anyone visiting
Santiago, it was GREAT! Thank You! Gene
We are finally home and feeling settled again in Alaska. I don't know
how to thank you for everything you did for us during our stay in
Santiago. I will, of course, place very positive reviews on Web sites
where your B&B is mentioned.
Although I have not written a tourism oriented travel story yet, here
is a different kind of travel story where I do mention you:

Here is the section:
DAY 18
Situation: We had arranged a babysitter to take care of Noa at our bed
and breakfast in Chile so we could attend a conference. The babysitter
calls in sick a few hours before the conference's opening event.
Response: We explain our predicament to Marilu, the owner of Marilu's
Bed and Breakfast in Santiago where we are staying. She immediately
makes calls and finds us a sitter. Although she can't find one person
to cover all four days of the conference, she arranges three different
sitters to handle the entire job. We, in turn, realize we have to
trust total strangers in a foreign country with our baby. At times
like this, trusting one another is just as important as trusting
others. We trusted that we were making the right decision given the
circumstances, and we made the decision jointly. Everything worked out
well. Noa learned how to be with new people and we learned that we
could be adaptable to new situations.
Thanks to you, Marilu, we made it through an entire conference!
All the best to you and best wishes for a happy holiday and new year,
Aliza
